Description

Beyond the ‘I’: When Memoir Meets History with Mimi Schwartz co sponsored by the Newbury Public Library
“But my life isn’t interesting!” is a concern of many who want to write memoir. But every life is interesting, especially when we weave in history —be it family legacies, neighborhood landmarks, or the social history that shapes us. Through readings, discussion, and in-class exercises, participants in this workshop discover strategies for writing their life stories in ways that family, friends, or strangers will want to read on. Open to all levels.
Space is limited. Register by calling 603-763-5803

Mimi Schwartz, a professor emerita in Writing at Richard Stockton University, is the author of seven books, most recently, When History Is Personal (University of Nebraska Press, March 2018). Her other books include the award-winning Good Neighbors, Bad Times- Echoes of My Father’s German Village; Thoughts from a Queen-Sized Bed; and she is co-author of the popular Writing True, The Art and Craft of Creative Nonfiction. A winner of a ForeWord Book Award for Memoir (2008) and the New Hampshire Best Literary Nonfiction Award (View Full Event Description Here:http://newburynhlibrary.net/event/beyond-the-i-when-memoir-meets-history-with-mimi-schwartz)
